RHC Vice Chair and President Haribhai Patel traveled to Ahmedabad, India as part of President Trump's official Namaste Trump delegation, hosted by Prime Minister Modi on February 24, 2020. The event drew a large crowd at the Sardar Patel (Motera) Stadium.
Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC) Vice Chair & President Haribhai Patel recently traveled to Ahmedabad, India with a handful of Indian Americans as part of President Trump’s official “Namaste Trump” delegation on February 24th, 2020, hosted by Prime Minister Modi.
The Trump Administration had requested the participation of Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC) in its “Namaste Trump” delegation during POTUS’ 2 day visit to India. RHC and its Founder Mr. Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar are often credited for their unprecedented role in President Trump’s historic 2016 victory. RHC had submitted a list of its most prominent leaders to be included in the delegation, but the size of the delegation was reduced to a very small number. Eventually, Mr. Haribhai Patel, of Chicago, IL, Vice Chairman and President, was chosen to represent the 5 million strong Hindu community due to all of his great work and leadership at RHC and in 2016.

The event took place at the newly constructed Sardar Patel Stadium, the largest cricket stadium in the world, in front of a crowd of 125,000. Prior to President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s speeches, Mr. Patel was escorted to the stadium where he met with the US President and Prime Minister Modi for a 1:1 meeting and photo op.
President Trump was charming and showed true care for Hindu and Indian Americans, and India. Additionally, President Trump discussed Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar and the wonderful support he continues to show both the administration and Hindu American community. During Namaste Trump, President Donald Trump announced that India will be purchasing $3 billion worth of US military equipment; 24 Sea Hawk helicopters from Lockheed Martin equipped with Hellfire missiles and six Apache helicopters. This is a preliminary deal as both sides are in negotiations for a much larger package, including a free trade agreement.
The RHC is Co-Chaired by Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and 2016 President Trump Campaign CEO and Advisor Steve Bannon. Its goal is to provide a single unified platform to build a strong, effective and respected Hindu-American voice in Washington and across the country.
