Indian Americans launched the Republican Hindu Coalition to bring the community onto one platform and strengthen Indo-US ties. Founder Shalli Kumar cited the Republican Jewish Coalition as his model, with Newt Gingrich, Mitch McConnell, Pete Sessions, and Ed Royce backing the launch.
Modeled on the Republican Jewish Coalition, the Republican Hindu Coalition was formed to advance conservative principles and to strengthen the bonds between Indian Americans and their fellow citizens. Founder Shalabh "Shalli" Kumar addressed the inaugural meeting and outlined the issues the coalition would take up.
"India's economy is growing faster than any other, and given its size, its growth has a huge impact on trade and prosperity all over the world," Kumar said. "India's position of leadership in the region makes it one of the United States' greatest and most important allies." Several Republican leaders welcomed the coalition's launch.
