Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar
In introducing Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar as the Honoree of the Year, American India Foundation, the largest Indian American charity in the US, declared: “Shalli Kumar is a man impossible to clone, a brilliant student, a prodigious inventor, a successful global entrepreneur, a generous philanthropist and yes a performing entertainer, all rolled into one. Shalli is uniquely endowed to foresee transformational events and executes his vision with in-fatigable energy and lots of flare.” AIF President went on to describe Shalli Kumar as “a man who does not count his years but makes his years count”. Congressman Pete Sessions, Chairman of the Rules Committee of the House of Representatives added: “So thank you for allowing me to be here tonight to put a stamp of approval on a man who spends his life working for others, to further the relationship between India and the United States of America”.

It would indeed be impossible to find another Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar, whose passion and energy is rare to match regardless of the field of human endeavor: as an engineer, inventor, an entrepreneur, a businessman, CEO, as a historian, a public debater and a commentator, as a champion of India causes in US Congress, as a very active proponent of conservative causes, an economist and public policy advisor, as a philanthropist, and yes as a performing artist as well.
Mr. Kumar holds multiple patents in Electronics, has created many new industries in automation controls, is the Chairman and CEO of AVG Advanced Technologies with an installed base of billion plus dollars of electronic products in every corner of this world. He is the Founder and Chairman of National Indian American Public Policy Institute (NIAAPI) that had the foresight to take the first high level U.S. Congressional delegation to visit with Narendra Modi in March of 2013, when Mr. Modi was in total diplomatic isolation by the US Government. Mr. Kumar is also the Chairman of Indian American Advisory Council of House Republican Conference of the US Congress responsible for advising the US Congress on legislation important to Indian Americans and India.
Born to a freedom fighter and raised in India, Shalabh Kumar during his early youth was a topper in Punjab University and came to the United States for further studies in 1969. He obtained his Masters in a record nine months and got busy in inventions. He invented the first microprocessor based French Fry computer for McDonalds and created an entire new industry with the invention of Programmable Limit Switch (PLS) for the automation industry. In the early 80’s, Mr. Kumar was recognized for creation of thousands of new jobs and also served on President Reagan’s Business advisory council.
Shalabh Kumar never does anything old, small or half-heartedly. If you get a chance, get his Business card which prominently describes the theme of his life: “Innovation by Design”. From electronic products to planning the wedding of his son Vikram Aditya Kumar to Pooja, Miss India 2007, he is known for his daring and out of box thinking. He had nine helicopters fly in a “V” formation to form the head of Vikram’s baraat (groom’s party) that flew over Auckland, New Zealand. During the 2014 Independence Day celebrations in NY, he had pop star Daler Mehndi singing and dancing during the entire parade route to the delight of 250,000 fans. And of course he successfully dared the Republican Party to rise in favor of Narendra Modi when he was an outcast. After Osama Bin Laden was found under the nose of Pakistan, he was successful in cutting foreign aid to Pakistan.
Influenced and inspired by the Republican Jewish Coalition, and encouraged by his friends in the US Congress, Mr. Kumar has just recently paired together with former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, to launch Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC) who told Washington Examiner “What Shalli is doing is really making us move towards bringing together people from all over the country, giving them a chance to get involved in politics, and in the process really beginning to give us an opportunity to have a much different Republican Party that’s much broader based.” In a subsequent remark, he added: “Kumar’s founding of the Republican Hindu Coalition may turn out to be a truly historic event in the history of the United Sates.”
Mr. Kumar has committed to contribute $2 million personally to advance Republican and conservative causes in 2016. Additionally, he intends to encourage others to actively participate through the RHC and through personal contributions to candidates and causes as the 2016 election approaches. His efforts are designed to champion freedom, promote free enterprise, take a firm stance against radical Islamic terrorists, increase trade between US and India, and offer US companies an alternative to manufacturing in China to further ensure economic security of the United States of America.
Vikram Aditya Kumar
Vikram Aditya Kumar, the eldest son of Shalabh and Shama Kumar, immigrants from India, was born in 1985 in Barrington, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, USA.
He went to Rumsey Hall boarding school set in the remote hills of Connecticut at an early age of ten where Mr. Tom Farmen, Headmaster of the School was appointed as his official Guru, followed by further studies at Hotchkiss High School also in Connecticut, USA. Vikram learnt the value of hard work and discipline at a very early age. Anyone looking for Vikram, at most any time of the day could always find him in his favorite spot in the library if not in class-room. It was no surprise that he was the Valedictorian at Rumsey graduation, and the Top performer in math at Hotchkiss.
Vikram went on to study Electrical Engineering at the Kumars’ favorite university that is Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, where he got his BSEE in 2007. He graduated Suma-cum-Laude with ETA KAPPA NU honors to be among the top 5% graduating engineers in the country.
Right after graduation, Vikram Kumar joined the family business, to which he had been exposed to as early as 10 year old doing summer jobs. He quickly mastered the art of running manufacturing operations and then running the Sales operations in a record one year time frame, and is the CEO of Automation division of AVG.
Vikram was married in January 2011 to Pooja Chitgopeker, Miss India 2007, in what was described as the “most lavish wedding New Zealand has ever seen” by the NZ media.

Vikram has essentially taken over the operations of AVG allowing his father to pursue his other interests in politics and entertainment industry. He has very aggressive plans for increasing the growth rate of the company and is currently involved in a major project in water management system for home automation in India that is expected to generate billion dollar plus revenue for AVG for products manufactured in the US.
Manasvi
Manasvi is Femina Miss India 2010, a Supermodel and a Bollywood Actress. Under her father Shalabh Kumarʼs influence, she is also politically active, and often accompanies him at meetings and events. She was very visible during the Republican Hindu Coalitionʼs outreach to Hindus for Trumpʼs candidacy.
Manasvi won the Miss Tourism International held in Malaysia on 31 December 2008. On April 30, 2010 she was crowned Femina Miss India, winning five subtitles including Miss Golden Heart and Miss Catwalk in the pageant.
A Trump supporter, Manasvi actively campaigned for him before the elections along with her father, industrialist Mr. Shalabh Kumar, who personally knows the president and was one of the biggest donors of President-elect Donald Trump’s political campaign. She will also lead the Bollywood star performance in the prime slot at the Donald Trump inauguration on 20 January.
Manasvi is the ambassador to India for Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC). She intends to be an active member of the RHC. She also wants to continue her career in Bollywood, but in a more serious role.
Anika Sadarangani
Anika was born in India but brings with her an impressive global and diverse perspective.
An all-rounder during her childhood, Anika was an ace student throughout her schooling years ranking no. 1 in her class every year and was also a National Lever Roller Skater and a state level Tennis Player. She also avidly pursued arts through singing, elocution, writing and painting during her growing up years.
After 12 years of schooling in Mumbai, she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her further education. She graduated with an Honors degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunications from the University of Nottingham. She further did Summer Schooling at London School of Economics and subsequently, she was one of the youngest students to complete her Masters in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford.
She then worked as an Investment Banker with Deutsche Bank for 5 years in London & Mumbai doing Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Structuring.
When she returned to Mumbai she started her own Brand Consultancy & Branding Agency as well as a tech startup FindADentist.co.in. She went back to New York to study Digital Marketing at NYU. Her agency now looks at Branding & Marketing for key startups & corporates.
Her dynamic and compelling background allow for her international school of thought and a global perspective. With over 5 years of Investment Banking experience in London & Mumbai and consulting across diverse industries, she extends a structured process and strategic mindset to RHC. With a natural flair for creativity, Anika is a also artist by passion and translates her aesthetic sensibilities to the other expressive and imaginative aspects of branding, marketing and advertising for RHC.
Jayshree Patel
Jayshree Patel has been a financial professional with New York Life Insurance Company since 1997. Jayshree consistently ranks amongst New York Life’s highest-achieving agents. She was named New York Life’s 2012 Council President, the highest honor a New York Life agent can receive and which can be earned only once during an agent’s career. The award is based on an agent’s annual sales, customer service and integrity. She has qualified for Council 14 consecutive years, qualifying for Chairman’s Council 13 times and Chairman’s Cabinet 4 times. Jayshree was also the 2008 Council First Vice President in the West Central Zone. She is a Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Round Table, having qualified for 13 years and making the Top of the Table in 2012.
Growing up in a small town in India with her widowed mother and four sisters, security and certainty were scarce. Marrying her husband Nilam at age 18, Jayshree later emigrated to the U.S. in 1993. In a new country, she found that working for a family business allowed her to make the adjustment smoothly while expanding her language skills. After the birth of first daughter in 1994, she started working with her father-in-law’s video rental business. She learned to interact with the customers in English and became fluent in it.
As an agent, she now works to ensure her clients leave a legacy for their loved ones, so that they can live with security and dignity. Jayshree’s practice focuses on estate conservation and financial strategies in the areas of liquidity and survivor needs, supplemental retirement income and college funding utilizing life insurance and other financial products. The majority of her clients are small business owners who are first generation immigrants.
She lives in Lincolnwood, IL with her husband Nilam and their three children.

Brij Sharma
Brij Sharma is the Founder and CEO of Power Volt in the business of manufacturing electronic magnetics, transformers and Power supplies. Powervolt has multiple plants in the states of Illinois and Iowa.
Mr. Sharma prides himself on his ability to compete even with China while manufacturing in the state-of-art products in the United States of America.
Mr. Sharma is an Engineer, Inventor, Entrepreneur and a Philanthropist. He is very active in Hindu American activities and is a major financial contributor to arts and music in Chicago area.
